The first frames are the abbey itself. You see it above the trees, doubled in still water, and from below, where the yellow and white facade rises straight out of the rock. Then the church towers stand over the courtyard, and the library's main room opens under its painted ceiling. Photos are not allowed in the interior rooms when you visit, so that frame is one you will only see here.

Next comes Dürnstein, the town most Wachau days pair with Melk. Its blue church tower stands by the river, and the castle ruin sits on the crag above the rooftops. A cobbled lane runs through the old town. From a boat deck you see the town come into view.

The last frames stay in the valley. The Steiner Tor marks the old town of Krems. Vine terraces turn gold in autumn, and trees blossom under a castle ruin in spring. Wine bottles hang on an old stone wall, the kind of stop a castles and wine day makes.
